Use a juicer to extract the grapefruit juice as you would do with other citrus fruits. It helps to juice the fruit at room temperature. Roll the fruit between your hands to help release the juice before using a juicer.
Peel the grapefruit like you would an orange. Remove the skin and as much as the white pith as you can. The pith is what is bitter on a grapefruit. Peel the skin off of the individual grapefruit sections for an especially sweet and juicy treat.
Slice the grapefruit into wedges. This is a good way to prepare grapefruit for a quick snack. Chew into the grapefruit, leaving the skins behind.
Cut the grapefruit in half. Use a small, sharp knife to cut around each individual grapefruit section. Remove the sections from the skin using a spoon. You can purchase special grapefruit spoons and skip the knife altogether.
Bake grapefruit segments into a tart or a cheesecake. There are several different recipes posted on the Internet for grapefruit dessert recipes.
Substitute grapefruit juice for other citrus juices in your favorite recipes. Try marinating chicken in it before grilling. It can be added to salad dressings, on top of fish or squeezed into fruit salads to prevent other fruit from discoloring.
